A question arises frequently among people who would like to start practicing music: "Until what age may I start receiving musical training?" well, it goes even without saying it: "It is always possible!" as long as you are patient and willing to learn. The practice of the harp is accessible to both adults and children and it could turn into a very enjoying hobby as well. Learning how to play an instrument is a very entertaining activity and allows everybody to listen to good music whilst playing it.

Children may start playing the harp from the age of 5, giving the baby the chance to learn through easy and playful activities, making the difficulties as lightest as possible.
Thanks to music a child develops his brain functions and his muscular coordination, through the harp a child will elaborate a different language, made of sounds and movements and will implement the sense of rhythm, the organizational ability as well as a study method.

Until the age of 10–11 it is advisable to use a Celtic Harp, which is a much smaller harp, very well suited for the babies' little hands and fingers. The celtic harp doesn’t have pedals, it has 34–36 strings and is much lighter and smaller than a classical instrument. Nowadays there are several collections of jazz, pop, classical, and celtic music available arranged for the celtic harp.

Instead, for grown–ups and adults a Classical Modern Harp may be an interesting and challenging choice as a much wider repertoire can be played on it.

There are many different models of harps on the market which has also very different costs, you may decide to invest in an instrument by buying it or simply renting it through one of the several harp builders available in Italy which provides both celtic and classical instruments.
